How do I arrange a repair or an installation?
Everything runs through the booking form on this site. Give your neighbourhood, describe what the door is doing, and name a window that suits you. A person reads the request and replies by email with available times. Same-day service is possible where the schedule allows.
Is a wide double door a different job from a single?
Yes, and Burlington has an unusual share of wide ones. A 1970s ranch double in Appleby or an estate double in Tyandaga carries more weight across a longer span than a townhouse-width door in Uptown, so spring sizing, cable drums and opener rating all change. Tell us roughly how wide the opening is and whether it is one door or two.
My driveway slopes down toward the garage. Does that matter?
It matters for water rather than for mechanics. On the sloped streets of Brant Hills and Tyandaga, meltwater runs toward the opening, so the bottom seal, the floor line and the lower brackets take more punishment than they would on flat ground. Mention the grade in the form and we will look at drainage and the seal, not only at the hardware.
Does a heritage designation affect a new garage door?
It can, where the door is visible and its appearance changes. Burlington's Council approved the final Burlington Avenue and Ontario Street Heritage Conservation District Plan and Guidelines on 2 March 2026 under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act. The city's Municipal Heritage Register also lists non-designated properties whose demolition needs sixty days' written notice to Council. Confirm your own property's status with the City before choosing a street-facing design.
My house is only a few years old. Should I be claiming warranty instead?
Possibly, and Alton Village is the clearest case: 29 percent of its dwellings were built between 2011 and 2016 and part of the neighbourhood is still under construction. A builder-installed door or opener may still be covered by the builder or by Tarion, so check that paperwork before arranging outside work.
Do you work north of Highway 407, in Kilbride and Lowville?
Yes. The main urban area sits south of the Parkway Belt and Highway 407, and above it are the rural settlement areas of Kilbride, Lowville and Mount Nemo. Rural properties are on private wells and septic systems and sit on large private lots, so tell us the access route and we will allow for the drive.
Will you work on the door and opener I already have?
Yes, wherever the existing hardware is sound. Send the make and model if you know them, a photo of the door, a photo of the opener and a description of the symptom. That is usually enough to say what the likely fault is and what a visit would involve.
Do I need a City of Burlington permit to replace a garage door?
It depends on what changes. Fitting a new door into an existing opening is a different proposition from widening the opening, cutting a new one, or altering a structure inside a heritage conservation district. Check the requirement with the City for your own property before work is scheduled.
